Before you spend anything
How to compare exam prep schools
We are not going to tell you what anybody else is worth. We would rather hand you the questions and let you find out — including asking them of us.
The advertised price is not the complete price
The state's reference list has two halves: thirteen books you carry into the exam room, and five you study at home but may not bring in. Questions come from all eighteen. Both halves are listed here.
A package can look cheaper simply because it contains fewer titles. The five study-only references are commonly sold separately — sometimes described as “supplemental” or “additional” study references — and adding them afterwards can put several hundred dollars back on the price.
So compare the title list, not the headline number. Ask what is in the box. Ask what is not. Then work out what a complete set actually costs at each school.
Where we stand
Our column is what we do. The other column is what to go and ask — we are not going to answer for anybody else.
| Contractors Classes | Other schools | |
|---|---|---|
| Everything on the state book list, in one price | ✔ | ask them |
| The 5 study-only books included | All five | Often sold separately |
| Quick Location tabs printed and placed | ✔ | ask them |
| Try the whole program before you pay | Free demo | ask them |
| Narrated solutions on the difficult questions | See it in the demo | ask them |
| A study coach that tracks your progress | See it in the demo | ask them |
| Talk to someone who works on this exam | Every call | ask them |
Every row in the middle column is something you can see for yourself in the free demo, or test in ninety seconds on the telephone. That is the point of putting them in a list.
The five questions
- What are the actual book titles in the package? Not a description — the titles. Count them against the state's eighteen.
- What is sold separately? Ask specifically about the five study-only references.
- Can I see the learning program before I pay? If the answer is no, ask why not.
- What happens if I do not pass? Get the conditions, not the headline. Ask what is refundable and what is not.
- Who will answer when I ring with a question about the exam? Then ring and find out.
Ask us all five. That is why they are on our own website.
The one you can settle right now
Question three takes about a minute. Our whole learning program is open — no payment, no obligation. Work through the lectures, the study questions, the flash cards and a practice exam, then decide whether it is worth your money.
Rather just ask somebody?
Ring us and ask something hard about the exam. You will be talking to someone who works on it, not a salesperson.
